Hope for India

From June to August I will be traveling to India to work with victims of sex trafficking through an organization named Rahab's Rope. This verse from Isaiah is my hope and vision as I encounter these rescued women. The Lord promises to bind up the broken hearted, to comfort them and restore them. I am already praying for all the women I will encounter in India and I pray that the Lord will touch them and restore them with His Hope.

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion - to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations." Isaiah 61:1-4

always providing

Prayers were answered and more, I met with the head of our psychology department at furman after my last post and he offered to give me $1,200 for the trip which left me with only $100 left to raise! The lord always provides and even when i didnt think i would have enough he has provided so much more!

Rahab's Rope has said that there is a huge need in Goa for underwear for small children, I will be packing as much as I can fit when I go in about a month and I would appreciate any support in this area! Yall have been so supportive financially and through prayers and I appreciate it more than you know. I think it is no coincidence that as soon as i get close to raising all the money for my trip that the lord reveals another need that he will fill! If you are interested in helping with this need, checks made out to rahab's rope or myself for underwear will be used and greatly appreciated! many of the women that rahab's rope works with have children in the slums and this is what it would be used for along with Rahab's rope's work with children to help prevent them from being trafficked in the future.

I cannot thank all of you and furman enough for the support throughout this journey and i look forward to what this trip will bring. I have received devotionals and letters and cd's which i appreciate SO MUCH as i try and prepare my heart for what the lord is going to do in me and in the women's lives in Goa. The lord has revealed some really hard truth to me about myself and areas that i am struggling in and I know that it is only out of love and he is going to continue to teach me so much more throughout my trip and break me of these struggles that draw me away from him. He is truly my daddy and cares for me so much and I have seen that through so many of you. I am so thankful.

The Lord is the one who sustains me"
